Parkersburg man pleads guilty to assaulting EMT, officer | News, Sports, Jobs

cblack@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG A Parkersburg man pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting a police officer and emergency medical technician following an incident last summer involving physical violence, racial slurs and drug use. In August 2020, officers responded to a call reporting an unresponsive male, Daniel Joseph Shmigal, 52, 808 Jackson Ave., Apt. 3, Parkersburg, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court. EMTs administered Narcan to Shmigal, after which he threatened to punch the medical worker and responding officers, the complaint said. Shmigal did not comply when told to cease and desist while making inappropriate comments and racial slurs directed at one of the officers, the complaint said.

PARKERSBURG The Wood County Magistrate Court released the following reports March 12: Joseph Clayton Tanner, 36, 2604 Pike St. Apt. 15, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and was assessed $270.25 in court costs and fines. Kendra K. Perry, 47, 1305 Lost Pavement Road, Parkersburg, pleaded no contest to failing to obtain a driver’s license. Tyler Cage Crain, 21, 13 Jones St., Mineral Wells, pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and was assessed $270.25 in court costs and fines. Fred Frank Kerby, 40, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to battery and was sentenced to one year of probation, suspended for 30 days of probation. A charge of domestic battery was dismissed.

Preliminary hearing waived for Dennison | News, Sports, Jobs

Hillary Paige Dennison PARKERSBURG Wednesday’s Wood County Magistrate Court reports involved an update with a murder charge, breaking and entering and arson. After allegedly shooting and killing her fiance, Beau Wasmer, and her father, Harold Dennison, Hillary Paige Dennison, 27, 1250 Sunshine Mountain Road, Williamstown, is being charged with two counts of first- and second-degree murder, according to the Wood County Magistrate Court. Dennison was arrested Feb. 28 and as previously reported, she admitted she “fired a gun intentionally at Harold Dennison which subsequently killed both victims,” according to a criminal complaint. She appeared before Wood County Circuit Court Judge Jason Wharton on Friday and was denied bond.
