PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg man pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting a police officer and emergency medical technician following an incident last summer involving physical violence, racial slurs and drug use.
In August 2020, officers responded to a call reporting an unresponsive male, Daniel Joseph Shmigal, 52, 808 Jackson Ave., Apt. 3, Parkersburg, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.
EMTs administered Narcan to Shmigal, after which he threatened to punch the medical worker and responding officers, the complaint said.
Shmigal did not comply when told to cease and desist while making inappropriate comments and racial slurs directed at one of the officers, the complaint said.
