Portugal’s inclusion on the Government’s green list was not unexpected – the country has one of the lowest infection rates in Europe and its transmissibility index continues to fall. It recorded only 180 positive cases of Covid-19 in the week to May 5, the lowest figures since early April. Portugal’s vaccine rollout, at just under 30 per cent of the population, is also in line with European member states.

River cruise line Emerald Waterways and sister company Emerald Yacht Cruises recently announced they were merging under one new brand, Emerald Cruises. The move comes as the company, which is owned by Australia-based Scenic Group, prepares to launch its first yacht, the Emerald Azzurra, next year. River cruise editor Jeri Clausing talked to the company s global brand manager, David Winterton, about the company s strategy and how Emerald differentiates itself from other lines.

Last week marked the official merging of the Emerald Waterways and Emerald Yacht Cruises brands under a single global brand, Emerald Cruises.
