Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Freeborn County teenager and two people from Farmington were injured in separate crashes last night and this morning in southeastern Minnesota.
The State Patrol says the roads were snow and ice-covered when a car driven by 18-year-old Aubriena Strain Hollandale slid off Highway 251 and crashed into the ditch near the intersection with Highway 218 just north of Austin around 8 o clock this morning. She was transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Austin with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other crash was reported shortly after 6:30 Friday night on Highway 52 about five miles south of Cannon Falls. The State Patrol says 24-year-old Anthony Weingartz of Farmington was driving an SUV north on Highway 52 when the vehicle went into the ditch and rolled. He and his passenger, 29-year-old Keith Berg of Farmington, were brought to the Mayo Clinic Health System Center in Cannon Falls to be treated
Man Arrested for What Is Now an Austin Murder Case
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the victims of a serious assault in Austin has died.
Austin Police Chief David McKichan says the individual who died was one of two people who were transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Austin after officers responded to a home at 808 3rd Avenue Northwest shortly before 9 AM. Initial reports indicated the victims had been stabbed, but that has yet to be confirmed by Austin Police.
A suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jaime Vaca of Austin, was arrested and is currently being held at the Mower County Jail. Chief McKichan says there is no threat to the general public.
