Mumtaz Bhutto laid to rest

Mumtaz Bhutto laid to rest July 20, 2021 SUKKUR: Former Sindh chief minister Mumtaz Ali Bhutto was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard, while the funeral was offered at his native village Mirpur Bhutto on Monday. Reports said a large number of people from all walks of life, including political personalities attended the funeral. The funeral was attended by Junior Zulfiqar (grandson of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto), former senator Dr Safdar Abbasi, Sindh MPA Moazzam Abbasi, JUI-F Molana Rashid Mehmood Soomro, PTI MPA Aslam Abro, Sardar Amir Khan Bhutto. The body was brought to his native village by his son Ali Haider Bhutto from Karachi to Mirpur Bhutto. It is pertinent to mention that the veteran politician fought against General Ayub Khan along with his cousin and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and later he became Sindh chief minister.

Daily Times July 20, 2021 Former Sindh chief minister Mumtaz Ali Bhutto was laid to rest after his funeral prayers were offered at his native village Mirpur Bhutto on Monday. A large number of people from all walks of life, including political personalities, attended the funeral prayers that was led by Maulana Ghulam Qadir Shah Jamkot. Important personalities that attended the funeral prayers included Junior Zulfiqar (grandson of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto), former senator Dr Safdar Abbasi, Sindh MPA Moazzam Abbasi, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)’s Molana Rashid Mehmood Soomro. The body of Mumtaz Bhutto was brought to his native village by his son Ali Haider Bhutto through an ambulance. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed grief over the demise of the former Sindh CM. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Mumtaz Bhutto passed away at his Karachi residence at the age of 94.

Proceedings of NA adjourned for 10 days July 20, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The proceedings of the National Assembly (NA) on Monday were adjourned for 10 days without executing any business. Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri announced to adjourn the House till July 30 soon after offering Fateha for departed souls ex-Sindh chief minister Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, martyred soldiers and other following the national anthem. Only three opposition members Syed Naveed Qamar, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali and a few government parliamentarians were present in their seats when the deputy speaker read adjourned orders. None of the members pointed out the lack of quorum in the House. The ongoing session is being held to complete 130 mandatory days in a parliamentary year.

NA Speaker wants ‘competitive profitability’ for tobacco farmers July 20, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser called for close scrutiny of the existing policy framework for the tobacco farmers, urging all the stakeholders to eliminate hurdles to provide competitive profitability to them. While presiding over a meeting of the National Assembly’s Special Committee on agricultural products on Monday at Parliament House, Asad Qaiser said, “The problems of cotton and tobacco growers would be tackled on priority in the next meetings of the special committee on agricultural products and an all-out effort would be made to ensure that the farmers to receive decent profit for their toil.” Reports said the tobacco farmers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had written letters to the Speaker of the National Assembly regarding their concerns, requesting him to end their sufferings.
