Taylor Chip Cookie Co plans creamery in West Hempfield Township; late 2022 opening expected

Taylor Chip Cookie Co. is getting in to the ice cream business. After winning a key zoning approval last week, the cookie bakery is moving ahead with plans to build a 20,000-square-foot creamery along Route 462 in West Hempfield Township. Construction plans are being finalized for the new Taylor Chip Cookies & Creamery, which would have an ice cream making plant with a retail area while also consolidating the company’s cooking making at 1780 Columbia Ave. Ice cream would be sold on site, with plans to also distribute it to retailers and offer mail-order sales. “We wanted to have a place where people could also visit, have an experience, do a tour,” said Doug Taylor, who owns the company with his wife, Sara. “We will ship ice cream nationally, and will also do all the cookie production there as well.”

Popeyes to open 2nd Lancaster County restaurant in East Lampeter Township

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is making plans to open a new restaurant in East Lampeter Township, near Dutch Wonderland. The restaurant will replace a former Pizza Hut at 2246 Lincoln Highway East, which closed in early 2020. Popeyes features mild and spicy fried chicken as well as seafood, sandwiches and sides such as jambalaya, green beans and macaroni and cheese. East Lampeter Township officials conditionally approved a plan Monday to demolish the former Pizza Hut and build a new, 3,000-square foot restaurant in its place. A representative for Popeyes did not respond to a question asking when the restaurant is expected to open.

Cinnaholic opens at new location in Manheim Township; cinnamon roll maker replaces Plum Street Gourmet

Cinnaholic, which features freshly baked cinnamon rolls, has opened in a new location in Manheim Township. The shop, which debuted in late summer 2017 at 1573 Manheim Pike, is now open at 1831 Oregon Pike. The new spot is the former home of Plum Street Gourmet, which never reopened after closing at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. At Cinnaholic, cinnamon rolls can be customized with 25 different glazes and toppings. There are also six “rolls of the day” displayed for customers who may have trouble deciding. In addition to cinnamon rolls, Cinnaholic has chocolate chip cookies, brownies, fudge and cakes as well as a variety of coffee drinks. It also sells a cinnacake, which is a cake made of cinnamon rolls. All products are vegan.
