MONROE One firefighter was injured battling what officials called a “stubborn” fire on Wheeler Road over the weekend.
Units responded to a home in the 400 block of Wheeler Road around 10:30 p.m. Saturday for a reported structure fire.
Arriving crews found a two-story barn with attached garages heavily involved in fire. Officials said a dog escaped the flames uninjured. Nine of 10 vehicles were saved.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital by medics with injuries and was later released, officials said.
