Russia registers 17,648 new Covid-19 cases, 437 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 17,648 new Covid-19 cases and 437 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday. Over the past day, 17,648 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,774 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (10.0%), the headquarters said.
Over the past day, 18,169 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 437 deaths from the novel coronavirus have been confirmed.
According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 2,037 new Covid-19 cases, 61 deaths, and 4,883 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
As of this date, Russia has registered a total of 3,868,087 cases of Covid-19 (+0.46%), including 73,619 deaths and 3,318,173 recoveries.
Chelyabinsk ranked 1st among Russian cities with highest air pollution levels
MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko met with heads of Russian regions and tasked them with reducing emissions of polluting gases into the atmosphere in 12 Russian cities, including Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Tagil and Magnitogorsk, which have been ranked among the most polluted in 2020, Abramchenko s press service said. Aggregate emissions of 12 cities with high air pollution rates must be reduced by at least 20% by 2024, Abramchenko said on Friday, according to her press service.
The list cited by Abramchenko features top 12 Russian cities with the highest aerogenic risks to health: Chelyabinsk is on top, followed by Nizhny Tagil, Magnitogorsk, Norilsk, Novokuznetsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Cherepovets, Lipetsk, Bratsk, Chita, and Mednogorsk.

Over the past day, 17,741 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,834 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (10.3%), the headquarters said.
The daily number of new Covid-19 cases passed the 17,000 threshold in Russia for the first time on October 23, 2020. Later on, the numbers varied from 16,500 to 17,717 until a new spike in infections occurred. There had been no stabilization until the beginning of January 2021.
