FCTA reaffirms commitment to pay COVID-19 contractors

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to pay all outstanding liabilities owed contractors who supplied various items during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusade Adesola, gave the assurance in Abuja on Monday while addressing contractors yet to be paid for jobs executed for the administration during the period.
Adesola, who appealed to the contractors to exercise patience, however, revealed that in spite of funding challenges, the administration had paid 109 contractors for supplying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS).

The Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA said it has vaccinated over 40, 000 residents against the COVID-19 since March 17 when the exercise begun in the territory.
Acting Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr Ndaeyo Iwot disclosed this on Monday in Abuja during the flag-off of the exercise for FCT indigenes by the Senator representing the territory, Philip Aduda alongside the two members in the House of Representatives.
“In the FCT, we have vaccinated over 40,000 and over 1 million for the country”, he said.
Dr Iwot assuaged fears about the non-availability of the second dose of the vaccine, saying the doses have been set aside and that no one who took the first dose would miss out on the second dose or be excluded.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun the vaccination of members of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), FCT Chapter, aiming to inspire public confidence in the vaccine.
The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, who spoke at the NUJ Secretariat in Utako, said the administration considered it necessary to vaccinate journalists because they are in their rights frontline workers.
Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, Malam Abubakar Sani, the minister said journalists taking the vaccine would inspire public confidence and clear doubts about the exercise which has been flagged off in the FCT in the past three weeks.
