President Biden and Secretary Blinken face a difficult choice (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)
On April 19th, the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combatting Antisemitism submitted a letter to President Biden urging him to “expeditiously nominate a qualified Ambassador to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism in order to confront the rising level of anti-Semitism worldwide.” A couple of weeks ago, in honor of Yom Hashoah (Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Day), I published a piece with The MirYam Institute, (later syndicated by The Algemeiner) in which I made the same argument.
Max is my son.
Watching him over the last few months, I was concerned about the constant stress he was under, as well as the time he had to spend on these issues while working at his job and maintaining his grades. I am proud of him for using his knowledge and strength of personality to stand up for the truth, while conducting himself with dignity throughout the entire matter. However, his situation reminds me why, as a parent, I have chosen to remain involved. It makes me redouble my efforts to protect Jewish students who do not want to have to fight or suppress part of their identity in order to be accepted on campus.
Politically driven show trials move from campus to culture Kenneth Marcus

The Trial of the Chicago 7, Aaron Sorkin’s award-winning 2020 legal drama, activist Abbie Hoffman urges lawyer William Kunstler to recognize that “this is a political trial that was already decided for us. Ignoring that reality is just weird to me.”
Kunstler, who in real life was known as a master of political lawyering, disagrees with his Yippie client. Kunstler insists, “There are civil trials, and there are criminal trials. There s no such thing as a political trial.” Hoffman smirks knowingly. The rest of the movie unfolds as a vindication of Hoffman’s view. The show trial of the Chicago Seven for inciting a riot was nothing if not political, and their conviction was nothing if not preordained.
