Campaigners have called for mental health provision to be treated on a par with physical health WALES’ political parties have turned their attention to mental health provision amid fears of a mental health crisis following the pandemic. In September, figures suggested that more people were waiting for mental health treatment than any other condition in Wales. Research by Mind Cymru also found that 74 per cent of young people aged 13 to 24 said their mental health had deteriorated during the first lockdown, and there are fears that a mental health crisis is looming large on the horizon. The Welsh Conservatives, who launch their manifesto tomorrow (April 20), have vowed to transform mental health provision in Wales by introducing a number of initiatives to guarantee it is given the same priority as physical health.

Connah s Quay Nomads raise thousands for MIND charity

THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised by an inspirational club who set out on a mega challenge for a cause close to their hearts. Academy players at the Connah s Quay Nomads were challenged to complete the February Mile a Day challenge for MIND. As a result, friends and family rallied behind the players and donations have been rolling in, taking the club donations past the £10,000 mark for 2021 so far. Jay Catton, director of football at Connah’s Quay Nomads, completed his personal January challenge which raised over £5,600 and The Nomads Academy have continued this fantastic work by raising more than £5,100 in February.
