Originally from Narragansett, Rhode Island, Victoria Gallogly was intrigued by Drexel University due to its urban setting. “I’m from a small New England beach town and was looking to expand my worldview and experience city living,” she said. “Dornsife and Philadelphia in general had a very welcoming energy when I toured the university, which ultimately persuaded me to commit to Drexel University.”
During her freshmen year, Gallogly became interested in studying public health due to its focus on population health. “While the work of physicians is vital and important [especially during the pandemic], their work is largely focused on one individual at a time,” she said. “I want my career to be focused on improving people’s health and well-being at a broader societal level.”

The National Library of Medicine released a study that showed the correlation between negative news and the increase in the level of cortisol which is the body’s primary stress hormone. In other words, the more negativity in a person s life, the more stress they ll feel, and the more stress a person feels, the more they emit those feelings to those around them.
Friends, family, newspapers, television, social media. Our world is drowning in ugliness and the sad reality is that the longer a person trudges through junk, the deeper they get sucked into it. Karthaus Christmas Eve Standoff 9:09 pm
Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers spoke out on the recent standoff in Karthaus that led to 46-year-old Shannon David Quick being taken into custody. Sayers says a 302 Warrant (also known as a Mental Health Warrant) was issued and executed at Quick’s home on Potter Street on Christmas Eve. This after Officials say Quick threatened his mother and child.
The Warrant called for Quick to have a Mental Health Evaluation done, but Officials say he refused to go, and that’s when Quick barricaded himself in the house beginning a standoff. Officials say Quick told them he had firearms inside the home. After failed negotiations with Quick, pepper spray gas and other tactics were used to force Quick out of the home. State Police and the “SERT” team were on scene for more than 12 hours.
Starting July 31, 2017, Airmen undergoing their annual Periodic Health Assessment may notice something new.
A Mental Health Assessment will now be part of every annual PHA, to help ensure that Airmen suffering from undiagnosed mental health issues are referred to the necessary care.
Mental health issues are a serious problem for U.S. Armed Forces and for the Air Force. These illnesses are often not visible to others, making them difficult to diagnose and leading to unnecessary suffering. By implementing yearly screening, more Airmen in the early stages of mental illness will be identified and referred for treatment, helping them heal and improving overall medical readiness.
