A 20-year-old physically challenged woman, Opeyemi Olatoke, locked up in a house by her parents for five years, has been rescued by Osun State government.
The father of the girl, Prophet Samson Olatoke, founder of C & S, Ileri Ayo parish in Ikirun, said the lady was locked up due to her health issues.
The state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs Bukola Olaboopo, said the ministry busted the building based on a tip-off from a Non-Governmental Organisation in the state.
A statement by the commissioner’s media aide, Oyedele Kehinde, said the father of the girl, Prophet Olatoke, disclosed that they decided to lock her up due to her health issue, while her mother explained: “I did not give birth to Opeyemi with a disability, it all started when she was four years old, that day she shouted from her sleep and that was how she became lame.”

After being locked up for five years in an abandoned house at the Alfa Fire area, Ikirun in Ifelodun Local Government Area, the Osun State government in collaboration with the police have rescued 20-year-old girl identified as Opeyemi Olatoke.
It was gathered that the father, Mr Samson Olatoke, and his son locked up the victim since 2016.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo, made available to newsmen on Monday, revealed that the matter was reported to her office by an NGO; Value Female Network.
“The ministry and the police swung into action, we went to the house where the 20-year-old girl was locked up by her father. The father disclosed that he locked up the girl because she was physically challenged. The victim’s mother informed us that Opeyemi’s health started to deteriorate when she shouted from her sleep at age four and since then she was lame.”

At least, 16 young men have been apprehended in Lekki area of Lagos State for allegedly involving in internet fraud, otherwise known as Yahoo-Yahoo.
The Lagos Zonal Office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), confirmed this in a statement on Monday.
The EFCC identified the suspects as: Akinduro Henry, Habeeb Adebayo, Oxford Robbinson, Caleb Triumphant Ezikiel, Marcus Wisdom, Osarobo Osasere, Emmanuel Timileyin, and Oyelami Olatunji.
Others are: Pelumi Glory, Ehibor Joseph, Adebayo Oluwatobi, Jefta Akpan, Okirhie Rukewe, Onyeka Odika, Uzoma Gideon and Isreal Ugochukwu.
According to the statement on its verified Twitter handle, the EFCC disclosed that the suspects were rounded-up on January 21 at the Ziroc Residence Hotel, Lekki, Lagos by operatives who had been tracking their activities.

Opeyemi was rescued at her family house located at Alfa Fire area, Oke-Iba-Obaagun Road, in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Her father, identified as Samson Olatoke, who was alleged to have locked up her daughter and her brother, was arrested by the police.
