PLANS to transform Bolton town centre’s former Post Office building into 48 apartments have been approved by the council. The former Post Office in Deansgate closed in August 2018 after being in use for over 102 years. The residential scheme features 38 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom units accommodated in the historic building with car parking behind it. The plans submitted by Mandale Homes Ltd were approved by the council on November 27. In a delivery statement the planning agents, ELG Planning, said the conversion will provide much-needed homes to Bolton town centre, and hopes to complete them in just six months. They said: “The proposed development will result in the positive re-use of a non-designated heritage asset, which is currently vacant and provide homes for the people of Bolton.
