The Race Is On For Recreational Cannabis In Pennsylvania
Medical cannabis has grown in Pennsylvania to a much larger industry than in either of its neighbors to the north and east, but the decision to legalize it for recreational use could be the difference between a significant acceleration and a massive missed opportunity.
“It could significantly impede both short- and long-term revenue if we wait too long [to legalize recreational cannabis],” state Sen. Sharif Street told
Bisnow. “It also makes [keeping cannabis illegal] a little pointless if people cross state lines to get it, so we’re not accomplishing anything to prevent people from using it. We’ll probably also have an uptick in arrests as people bring it across state lines.”
Northbound lane on I-295 reopens in Bellmawr after retaining wall partially collapses
By FOX 29 staff article
BELLMAWR, N.J. - The I-295 northbound lane reopened Wednesday in Bellmawr, New Jersey, following the partial collapse of a retaining wall last month. Even though the lane is now open, motorists should continue to expect ongoing congestion and delays associated with this project. If possible, you should plan an alternate route during peak travel times, said Al Dyer, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works.
Dyer adds when the project is completed it will alleviate much of the traffic congestion. The wall was built as part of the new roadway being constructed, which was not open to traffic yet.
Highway lane reopens at site of I-295 retaining wall collapse
Updated Apr 21, 2021;
The right lane that has been closed since the partial collapse of a retaining wall on I-295 last month reopened Wednesday morning as the excavation work and investigation into why it failed continues in Bellmawr, New Jersey transportation officials said.
As promised by Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, the DOT also hired a forensic engineer to investigate the cause of the retaining wall collapse. She made the commitment during a public meeting arranged by District 5 legislators on April 7.
The right lane was closed on March 25 as a safety precaution after the collapse and to allow construction vehicles to access the retaining wall. It was being constructed as part of the Direct Connection project that was under construction and not open to traffic.

The laws also allow the purchase and sale of legal weed at state-licensed dispensaries, though it could be well over a year before recreational sales even begin.
Currently, only 13 dispensaries are open in the state from 10 operators to service the 100,000 registered medical marijuana patients.
While recreational marijuana sales at dispensaries are still to be determined, medical marijuana dispensaries will continue business as usual.
