NEW DELHI: In a bid to develop a fully indigenous mapping portal, apps and geospatial services, the Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO and MapmyIndia have recently announced their amalgamation.
The initiative will be an alternative to Google Maps which will take forward India s journey of being self-reliant or Atmanirbhar, said MapmyIndia s CEO and Executive Director Rohan Verma.
Announcing its collaboration ISRO s Department of Space in a press statement informed that it has joined hands with MapmyIndia to combine their geospatial expertise and build holistic solutions by leveraging their geo portals.

IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the Imphal East District Police team in Imphal for rescuing three workers from suspected militants.
Meanwhile, Manipur chief minister taking to his Twitter handle wrote, Well done Imphal East District Police and Commando team for rescuing three labourers from their kidnappers today. Handed over a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for their bravery and the police team will also be awarded Chief Minister s commendation certificates.

New Delhi [India], January 12 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on a plea challenging an order passed by it in September 2020 in a matter related to the alleged extrajudicial killing of two people by a combined force of Manipur Police commandos and 16th Assam Rifles in Imphal, Manipur on January 21, 2009.
The bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh on Friday while seeking a response from NHRC and State of Manipur also directed them to file detail affidavit in this regard and slated the matter for April 22 for further hearing.
