POLICE REPORTS FOR JAN 26, 2021

Punxsutawney, PA / WPXZ 104.1 FM Jan 26, 2021 4:09 PM State Police in Punxsutawney are investigating a theft that occurred on Sunday at a residence along Coolspring Road in Oliver Township of Jefferson County. Police say three rolls of chicken wire fencing were taken from the porch of the residence. State Police arrested at 27-year-old Punxsutawney woman following a traffic stop in Bell Township of Jefferson County on Sunday. Troopers say they stopped the vehicle on Route 119 near Bells Mills Cloe Road for a registration violation. Police say they observed several indicators of impairment as well as suspected drug paraphernalia. Troopers conducted field sobriety tests and placed the woman under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Punxsutawney, PA / WPXZ 104.1 FM Jan 20, 2021 2:19 PM A 40-year-old Smicksburg man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Punxsutawney Monday. State Police say they stopped the vehicle on West Mahoning street just before 8 pm after observing traffic violations. The man showed signs of impairment and officers conducted a field sobriety test which lead to a DUI arrest. Officers say an 8-year-old child was a passenger in the vehicle. Criminal charges are pending. State Police are investigating a burglary that occurred sometime between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8 on Paradise Road in Henderson Township of Jefferson County. Officers say someone entered a 48-year-old Stump Creek man’s garage and took more than 150 pounds of copper wire and a metal barrel before fleeing the scene.

ONE PERSON DEAD IN FIRE NEAR SALTSBURG

Indiana, PA / WDAD AM1450 & 100.3FM Dec 29, 2020 7:37 AM A Saltsburg man died in a fire at his home just over the Westmoreland-Indiana County border on Monday. Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha (BATCH-uh) announced 52-year-old Frank Zanavich was found in the basement of his home two miles west of Saltsburg on Route 286 in Bell Township, Westmoreland County during a fire fight at the home.  Witnesses saw smoke emanating from the building and called 911 around 9:26 in the morning.  Zanavich lived in the home with his father, Bernard and his brother, Bernie Jr.  Firefighters were able to rescue the other two and they were flown to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.  Saltsburg and Tunnelton fire crews were called in to help crews from Westmoreland County fight the fire.  Iselin Fire Department stood by for Tunnelton during that time.  Crews were on-scene for three hours putting out the fire and investigating the scene.  The fire caused substantial damage in
