Reed named first-team all-league

.... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... The University of New Mexico has not had a first-team All-Mountain West Conference non-specialist selection since 2014, until now. Junior defensive back Jerrick Reed, who led the MWC in interceptions (four) and interceptions per game (0.57), was named first-team All-MWC at safety, as chosen by the 12 head coaches and a select media panel, the league announced Tuesday. Senior linebacker Brandon Shook, who led UNM (2-5) with 60 tackles, earned second-team honors, as did San Diego State junior kick returner Jordan Byrd, a Manzano High alumnus. UNM junior running back Bobby Cole and seniors Kyle Stapley (offensive line), Teton Saltes (OL) and Joey Noble (defensive lineman) received honorable mention, as did SDSU junior defensive end Keshawn Banks, a Rio Rancho High alumnus.
