Picking a performer or group to write about can be a lot of fun (or not!). And
fun was the operative word for a fan like me in researching and writing about
The Brothers Four. I happen to like reading what’s on LP record jackets, in liner notes and digging through old newspaper articles. You can learn a lot. But like others who dabble in the fine art of writing stuff that you hope gets read by your target audience, along with a litany of facts you find that it can also be enlightening as well. With that said, I’ve learned what other fans around the world have known about The Brothers Four for over 60 years.

Showing clearly the continued popularity of Scandie noir among English-speaking audiences, Banijay Rights has announced that just as the Swedish crime thriller is to return for a second season, Bäckström has been picked up by AMC Networks in the UK, Canada and US for its streaming service, Acorn TV.
Produced by Yellow Bird for C More and TV4 in co-production with Film i Väst and ARD Degeto, the crime drama series centres around detective Evert Backstrom, a man famous for having solved 99% of all cases he has taken on. Series 1 (6 x 45’) is based on Leif GW Persson’s novel, Can You Die Twice?. When a bullet ridden skull is found in the Swedish archipelago, DNA-results confirm it belongs to a victim of Thailand’s 2004 tsunami. Bäckström is faced with an inexplicable mystery that even he could not have imagined.

AMC Networks has bought for its streaming service Acorn TV, the U.S., U.K. and Canadian rights to the six-part Swedish series “Bäckström,” produced by the Scandi powerhouse Yellow Bird (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “Wallander”). The deal was brokered by global distributor Banijay Rights.
“Bäckstrom” is set to launch Feb. 8 in the U.K. and later this spring in North America.

The series is based on best-selling crime author Leif G.W. Persson’s novel “Can You Die Twice,” adapted for the screen by Jonathan Sjöberg (“Black Lake”), who also serves as concept director.
