Night curfew across Punjab, political gatherings banned till April 30

Making it clear that those violating the ban on political gatherings would be booked under the Disaster Management Act and the Epidemic Diseases Act, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said he had been forced to order the ban as his pleas to parties to refrain from organising such events had been ignored.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh announced on Wednesday extension of night curfew across Punjab and a ban on political gatherings till April 30 due to the surge in coronavirus cases.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday alleged that the Centre, in connivance with the Delhi government, tried to prevent the SAD from contesting the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) election, but it failed.
Sukhbir was here to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple after recovering from Covid. He will later address the ‘Punjab Mangda Jawab’ rally in Ajnala.
Sukhbir said, “The Covid pandemic has affected humanity and dented global economy. I have also passed through this phase and am fully recovered now. I have come to the Golden Temple to pray for the well-being of all.”
Day after holding rally in Punjab, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal tests COVID-19 positive
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday said he has tested positive for coronavirus. He made the announcement a day after addressing a rally in Tarn Taran. Badal said he is fine and has isolated himself. I would like to inform everyone that I have tested COVID positive. My health is fine & as per protocol I have isolated myself. I request those who came in contact with me during the last few days to isolate themselves & get tested for COVID-19, said Badal in his tweet.

Chandigarh:Â Seeking to galvanise support for his party ahead of next year’s assembly polls in Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday said he will contest the elections from Jalalabad.
The Jalalabad assembly segment in Fazilka was earlier represented by Sukhbir Badal, but after his election to the Lok Sabha from Ferozepur in 2019, he quit the seat which was wrested by the ruling Congress in the by-polls later that year.
