Indian Navy’s INS Talwar, carrying 40 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen in cryogenic containers donated by the Kingdom of Bahrain, berthed at the New Mangalore Port on Wednesday afternoon. Yatish Baikampady, member of the Karnataka State Management Committee of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), said that Red Cross is the consignee of 40 tonne liquid oxygen supplies.

Gold and foreign-origin cigarettes seized by the customs department. MANGALURU: In one of the biggest hauls in the recent past, officers of Mangaluru Customs on Thursday seized 2.41kg gold valued at Rs 1.1 crore from a female passenger flying from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport. Kapil Gade, deputy commissioner, Customs Mangaluru said that the smuggler has been identified as Mohammed Ali Sameera, resident of Kasaragod in Kerala. She tried to smuggle gold by concealing it in both her inner garments including sanitary pads and socks. Gold of net weight 2.41kg was seized. Foreign-origin cigarettes were also seized from her possession, said Gade.
