Prince Albert Daily Herald Province-wide fire ban remains in effect as fire risk remains high to extreme across Saskatchewan Highway # 2 closed at Rabbit Creek Thursday evening as fires crossed at the Creighton junction. La Ronge fire department Residents of Whelan Bay and Rabbit Creek were evacuated on Thursday, while smoke and fire warnings put several other communities on evacuation alert. Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) vice-president of operations Steve Roberts said there are 129 active fires in the province  up by nine from the day before. “Fire risk remains high to extreme across the province… The fire ban will remain in effect and will be reviewed in a couple days based on those weather conditions,” Roberts said.
