Homeless man ordered to stay away from homeless facility in Limerick

A SERIAL offender has been ordered to stay away from a homeless shelter in Limerick city centre following a number of incidents earlier this month.
Noel Franklin, of no fixed abode, is facing public order and trespass charges relating three separate incidents which occurred at McGarry House, Alphonsus Street on April 2, April 6 and April 8.
After Garda Dean O Sullivan expressed concerns that he would return to the facility, Judge Patricia Harney indicated she would refuse bail if he did not agree to stay away from McGarry House.
Solicitor John Herbert said his client, who recently completed a prison sentence, has been homeless for some time and has been attempting to engage with the homeless services since his release.
Gardaí investigating the discovery of body in Limerick city

GARDAI are investigating the discovery of the body of a man in Limerick city.
The man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was discovered inside an apartment on Alphonsus Street in the city centre at approximately 1.30pm on Friday afternoon.
The apartment is located at McGarry House, which is run locally by Novas, and provides temporary supported accommodation for men and women who find themselves homeless in Limerick city.
The man’s body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem is to be carried out.
According to gardai, enquiries into the man’s death are “ongoing”.
Pharmaceutical giant donates food and household goods to Limerick charities

Pharmaceutical giant Regeneron, which has a a significant presence in Limerick, has donated over 10,000 items of food and household goods to four Limerick based charities for distribution to those in need.
It was the second time this year the company has given €20,000 worth of these items distributed across Novas, Peter McVerry Trust, Mid-West Simon Community and Focus Ireland for a total donation of €40,000 in 2020.
