Minister in hot water for not wanting to dirty his shoes

ARAVINTHAN A TAMIL Nadu state minister is in hot water after videos of him being carried from a boat to shore to avoid dirtying his white shoes went viral, Makkal Osai reported. Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, who is the minister for fisheries, fishermen’s welfare and animal husbandry, was visiting Palaverkadu to inspect erosion in the bay area when the incident happened. He was wearing a pristine white shirt, white veshti (traditional male attire) and white shoes and appeared reluctant to get off the boat and step into the ankle-deep water around the boat.

ARAVINTHAN THREE sisters in Kulim, Kedah, who were fined by the municipal council for operating an unlicensed roadside stall, have urged the authorities to show compassion and fairness to them, Makkal Osai reported. The unnamed siblings started the stall selling snacks after their hair and make-up business took a hit because it had to remain closed during the movement control order. The sisters said they were ordered to remove their stall and told to pay a fine immediately. The trio were dismayed by the enforcers’ action and claimed that other stalls in the same area in Paya Besar were allowed to operate.

Foundation helping the needy in Sentul

ARAVINTHAN THE Malaysia Telugu Foundation (MTF) is providing food to struggling families in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, as part of its welfare work during the current enhanced movement control order, Makkal Osai said. MTF president Datuk Dr R. Kantharao Ackunaidu, who is also the Malaysian Indian Youth Council KL chapter president, is leading the effort. With the cooperation of Skuad Khidmat Batu youth leader Tuan Ismail Huniffa and his team, the two groups managed to prepare and distribute groceries to some 100 families from the B40 group. MTF hoped the contribution would help families sustain themselves during the ongoing pandemic and enhanced MCO, Kantharao said.
