Surf Life Saving Clubs across Dawson and Capricornia can apply for a share of $9.7 million to upgrade equipment and bolster training programs to keep beachgoers safe after the Federal Government. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the additional funding would help save lives, building on a further $21 million over the next three years for the Water and Snow Safety Program. Hundreds celebrated at Mackay Surf Life Saving Club s Aussie Day Beach Party - a free event from Mackay Regional Council. Attendees enjoyed a giant water slide, beach volleyball and Aussie Day activities, including a thong toss competition and sack races. There was also live entertainment from R & R Unlimited.

Aussie Family Barbecue at Quota Park Activities on the day will include a free barbecue and plenty of beach game activities for the kids and family like tug of war, thong throwing and sand castle building competition.
