Nagpur district collector Ravindra Thakre and his wife performed the father s duty for the groom, who is also an orphan with speech and hearing disabilities, an official release said. The marriage was held at Nagpur, with many political leaders and government officials in attendance.

Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government approved the Shakti Bill which is expected to be tabled during the winter session. The Shakti Act is modelled on the lines of Andhra Pradesh Disha Act Criminal Law (AP Amendment) Act, 2019 with a provision of the death penalty for rape.      Several organisations, women s rights lawyers, activists, academicians, legal professionals have requested the MVA government to not table the Shakti Act because it is draconian, misplaced, protectionist, and not progressive.
