TZP Group acquires majority stake in maternity apparel brand Kindred Bravely

1 TZP Group has tapped its Small Cap Partners II fund to buy a majority stake in maternity and nursing apparel company Kindred Bravely. Launched in 2015, Kindred Bravely is a digital-native direct-to-consumer brand for basic apparel for pregnant and nursing mothers. Its products include bras, loungewear, underwear, sleepwear and more. Its aim is to offer comfort and functionality. The company was founded by Deeanne Akerson and Garret Akerson, who will continue as co-CEOs and maintain a significant stake in the business. TZP partner Dan Gaspar said, at “Kindred Bravely is an incredible brand with a loyal and growing customer base. We are excited to partner with the Akersons and the Kindred Bravely team as the Company continues its rapid growth trajectory.”

The new services – for around 6,000 women – aim to offer help to new, expectant and bereaved mothers from 26 hubs across the country.  Around one in four mothers are estimated to experience mental health problems such as post-natal depression or anxiety and distress during pregnancy.  Sir Simon Stevens, the NHS England chief executive, said: The pregnancy and the birth of a new child are a special time for families, but if things go wrong it can have a huge impact on women, their partners and even other children. That is why the NHS is developing maternal mental health services to help them get back on track as part of our long term plan.
