Governor offers new rental assistance for Montana residents

BOZEMAN â A new rental assistance program for Montana residents is estimated to help as many as 8,000 residents, and that could also include you.
The governorâs office announced the Montana Emergency Rental Assistance program is now taking applications from renters whoâve experienced hardships due to the pandemic and face housing challenges.
Federally funded, the program will pay past due and future rent, utilities, and internet to a certain amount.
To qualify, the household income has to be less than 80 percent of what the median income is for the county.

HELENA, Mont. - The Montana Emergency Rental Assistance program is accepting applications for people facing housing insecurities due to lost wages from the COVID-19 pandemic.
âThe last year has brought real, serious challenges to hardworking Montana families through no fault of their own,â Gov. Greg Gianforte said in a release from his office Tuesday. âEmergency rental assistance will help Montanans, who have struggled financially through this pandemic, get back on their feet and remain secure in their homes.âÂ
Gov. Gianforte s release said this emergency assistance, financially supported by the federal Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 and acquired by the Montana Legislature, is projected to keep 8,000 Montana residents from getting evicted.
