Educational institutions, including madrasas, must follow constitution, laws: High Court

The High Court today observed that all educational institutions, including madrasas, have to conduct academic activities in line with the constitution and relevant laws.
No student can be tortured physically or mentally as per the earlier directive of the High Court.
If the laws and constitution are violated by any educational institution, the education ministry, Directorate of Education and education boards can take appropriate legal action.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice Shahed Nuruddin said this after going through the compliance reports submitted by the deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Chattogram.

The High Court today wanted to know what legal action has been taken against madrasa teacher Maulana Yahya, who was seen mercilessly beating one of his students in a recent video that went viral on social media.
The court asked the authorities concerned to submit a report on it by March 14, describing the detailed action taken against the madrasa teacher from Chattogram.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul and Justice Shahed Nuruddin delivered the order on a suo moto (voluntary) move after Deputy Attorney General Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar placed newspaper reports regarding the incident before the bench for necessary orders.

The High Court yesterday wanted to know what legal action was taken against a madrasa teacher for beating up an eight-year-old student mercilessly in Chattogram s Hathazari upazila recently.
The court asked the government authorities concerned to submit a report to it by Sunday, detailing the action taken against Maulana Yahya.
It also ordered the authorities to provide treatment to the child victim and security to his family.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice Shahed Nuruddin came up with the suo moto (voluntary) order after Deputy Attorney General Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar placed some newspaper reports on the incident before the bench.
