By Munashe Kwangwari From battling blazes to fighting for his life, a longtime member of the Zoneton Fire Protection District, Major Garry Key, finds himself in the hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19.Major Key has been with the district for more than 35 years, and on Saturday, members from the district took to Facebook to announce he has been hooked up to a ventilator. The news comes a little over a month after the district suffered the loss of former Fire Chief Rob Orkies, who passed away from a combination of cancer and the virus.“It’s bad enough to see anybody die from COVID,” said Public Information Officer, Rich Carlson. “Then just a month or two later you’ve got the battalion chief, or the number two guy, going through the same thing.
