Plans to finalise controversial 80 homes bid in Earls Colne given boost

D-DAY is looming for plans to build 80 new homes in a village. Residents in Earls Colne could be set to see the new homes built on land in the village after council planners recommended the application for approval. Developer Persimmon Homes Essex was given outline permission to build on a site south of Halstead Road in 2017 by Braintree Council. Some parts of the application are still do be decided. They included the development’s scale, appearance, layout and landscaping. Now Persimmon hopes the 80-home development will get the final green light from the council. It will be decided at Braintree Council’s planning committee meeting which will be held virtually on July 20.

Four-year-old Imelda Mower, from Braintree, was born with a condition which means she is still unable to walk, crawl and talk. Mum Rachel has now received £1,000 after asking the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme for help covering the cost of therapies Imelda needs to improve her health and mobility. Rachel said: “We are delighted to receive this funding from Persimmon Homes Essex – it will help to cover the cost of an intensive block of therapy to help Imelda develop her mobility and independence.
