PUTNAM - A group of educators from Putnam and Woodstock on Wednesday were among the first in the state to receive a recently-approved, one-shot COVID-19 vaccine.
Inside Day Kimball Hospital, dozens of staff members from the Putnam and Woodstock public school systems, as well as from Woodstock Academy, were given doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by a cadre of hospital nurses.
R. Kyle Kramer, chief executive officer for Day Kimball Healthcare, said the hospital received its first allotment of 1,500 doses Tuesday afternoon and came up with a plan to host a vaccination clinic hours later.
He said more of the single-shot does will be delivered soon, though not until after next week.
