Five candidates four Republicans and one Democrat are seeking nomination to run for the post and an opportunity to help steer the municipality as it prepares for the long awaited Laurel Valley Transportation Improvement Project. The highway project is designed to provide upgrades to Route 981 between Route 819 and the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.

Wings Across Westmoreland alights in Youngwood on Saturday, with the unveiling of a new set of wings highlighting the borough’s unique history and culture. The artwork, part of a countywide art initiative sponsored by Westmoreland Cultural Trust, will be presented to the public at 11 a.m. along the Five Star Trail at Depot Street by representatives of the trust and borough council.

Man, woman arrested after troopers report finding suspected meth in Unity traffic stop

Southbound lanes of I-71 closed Friday after crash involving semi

The southbound lanes of I-71 closed Friday afternoon and into the evening at U.S. 62 on Columbus South Side after a fatal accident involving a semi trailer-truck.  The crash occurred at approximately 2:59 p.m. when a 2020 International truck and trailer exited the roadway, struck a tree and rolled over in a ditch, according to a press release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.  Franklin County Sheriff’s office deputies and fire department personnel from Pleasant Township and Jackson Township responded to the crash, which took place south of Lambert Road, according to the release.  The driver of the vehicle was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition. At 4:01 p.m., the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel.
