JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Monday released body camera footage from the night of Feb. 23 the night Louis Nix III was last heard from.
On that night, a witness called police, saying that they saw lights and heard splashing in an apartment complex retention pond at the Broxton Bay apartments.
In the video, the officers at the scene can be seen looking out at the pond and shining their flashlights over the dark waters.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla Former NFL star Louis Nix III was found dead Saturday night after being reported missing earlier in the week.
Saturday evening, officers pulled a car from a retention pond near Nix’s apartment on Broxton Bay Drive.
“I knew,” said Stephanie Wingfield, Nix’s mother. “One thing about a mother, we know. And I just started crying and I was like, Lord, if my son, if he s okay, you give me a peace, but if he s not okay, you ll give me a discomfort. And I felt sick.”

Louis Nix, has passed away. The former NFL star was found dead on Saturday, February 27 after he was reported missing to police in Jacksonville Florida on Wednesday. He was only 29 years old.
After several days of searching, the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office tweeted at 8 P.M. ET Saturday that Nix had been located but did not report Nix s condition. Nix s family has confirmed his passing, with his mother Stephanie Wingfield and brother Antonio Nix telling News4Jax that police informed them his car was found in a pond across the street from the Broxton Bay apartments.
