Amazon has announced the indefinite postponement of its popular Prime Day sale event, but only in India and Canada, where the COVID-19 pandemic remains enough of a problem to have closed down entire distribution centres (at least in the GTA.)
Prime Day, which is similar to Boxing Day or Black Friday in terms of one-day-only doorbuster deals on big-ticket items, traditionally takes place over two days in July, though last year it was pushed back to October as a result of the pandemic.

The annual online shopping event, which is largely compared to Black Friday, will be taking place between May and June this year, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed to TODAY.com.
“We’re excited for the return of Prime Day and look forward to providing our members with incredible savings, while investing in opportunities for our small business selling partners, and continuing to ensure the safety of our employees, the spokesperson shared with TODAY.com via email. We’ll share more details soon and customers can also say, Alexa, keep me posted on Prime Day to stay informed.”

Are you hungry for deals? It may seem like the 2020 holiday shopping season just ended, but discount-minded internet users are already on to the next big thing Amazon Prime Day.
Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic forced Amazon to push its annual shopping holiday from July to October. And while the company has not made any announcements about Prime Day 2021, it appears that the event will return as a summer e-commerce extravaganza.
When Is Prime Day 2021?
According to Recode, Amazon is eyeing a late June Prime Day event. As in recent years, Prime Day will instead be a multi-day savings blowout. Why June and not July? Money, of course. As Recode points out, the second quarter ends on June 30, so Amazon might be looking to give its second quarter earnings a boost with its Prime Day bounty. Amazon denies that, though.

You can basically find anything and everything you need on Amazon, making a trip to an actual store feel like a real inconvenience, amirite? The rapid growth of online shopping (especially through Covid) helped Amazon grow Prime Day into the major shopping holiday it has become. Serious online shoppers and deal hunters know that Prime Day brings around the best sales of the entire year (especially when you look at last year s deals). We’re talking better than President’s Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
With more brands participating this year than ever before, it’s difficult to say exactly what Amazon will be offering.
