Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Feb 5 : Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has joined hands with Zomato for home delivery of street food in six cities. As a part of Prime Minister Street Vendor s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme, the MoHUA entered into MoU with Zomato, to bring street food vendors on its food-tech platform. In a statement MoHUA said that initially MoHUA and Zomato will run a pilot program by on-boarding 300 vendors across six cities namely - Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Vadodara.

Zomato partners with govt for street food project, ropes in 300 vendors

Food delivery and technology company Zomato is scaling up its programme to support street vendors. It has onboarded 300 street vendors on its platform, across six cities in the first phase. The Deepinder Goyal-led firm has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme to onboard food street vendors on its platform. With this, these street vendors would be able to serve their loyal customers within the safety of their own homes. They would also be able to reach a much larger customer base using Zomato’s technology and last-mile delivery services.

New Delhi: Online food ordering platform Zomato on Thursday announced that it will tie up with  street food vendors across 6 cities of India under the Prime Minister Street Vendor s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. An exchange of MoU was signed between Mission Director, PM SVANidhi in the Ministry and Vice President of Zomato. As per the Mou, Zomato will launch a pilot product with 300 street food vendors in 6 cities Bhopal, Raipur, Patna, Vadodara, Nagpur and Ludhiana. Zomato will provide PAN and FSSAI registrations, digitised menu, fix prices, train and certify vendors in food safety and hygiene, packaging, presentation and use of Zomato App, as part of the training process. It has been learnt that Zomato will upscale to 125 cities.
