The Penn State Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity hosted singer and actor Jonathan Groff as its Pride Month Keynote speaker at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Groff, best known for his work in âHamilton,â âFrozenâ and âGlee,â spoke about his experience in the entertainment industry as an openly gay man
Having worked in Hollywood and on Broadway, Groff said LGBTQ acceptance in both fields is âa case by case basis,â but said there are people in both who âare beautifully accepting.â
âCertainly theatre has historically felt more open to all different types,â Groff said. âI would say that on certain sets, it can feel pretty bro-y. It can feel more straight with all the crew dudes, whereas in theatre, it s more of an eclectic group coming together every day. But I wouldn t say that discrimination is special in any particular medium.â
