Remote learning changing the face of teacher education Tabi Jozwick Voice Correspondent MACOMB When Governor J.B. Pritzker ordered all Illinois schools into remote learning back in March, Western Illinois University’s School of Education director Eric Sheffield said his reaction was one of disappointment. “I was initially very disappointed because being a teacher for a long time, I know the best kind of teaching happens, particularly when you re working with future teachers in person in a classroom where you can interact with them, socially and kind of pick-up cues from them while you re teaching,” Sheffield said during a Zoom interview.

Chamber hands out business awards virtually

A Private Funeral Service for Lola (Steenhoek) Vanderhart, age 82, will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021, 1:00 pm at The Bridge in Johnston, Iowa. Interment will follow in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City, Iowa. There will be no public visitation under present guidelines. Memorial contributions may be given to Elan Memory Care at Brio of Johnston in Johnston, Iowa. Van Dyk- Duven Funeral Home in Pella, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.
