Alabama News Anchor/Reporter Ellis Eskew joined Alabama News Network in October 2012. She anchors Alabama News Network at 11 a.m., Noon, 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. With nearly 20 years of experience in the TV news business, Ellis has held many different jobs both in front of and behind the camera. She got her start in TV in her hometown of Dalton, Georgia. From there, she went on to report for stations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama, where she was anchor/producer for the FOX affiliate. Ellis graduated from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, with a degree in Mass Communications/Broadcast Journalism. Her senior year, she interned at CNN in Atlanta.

(Photo courtesy University of North Georgia) At the end of a 38-year career in theater education, Jim Hammond received one of his greatest recognitions the Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities.  Hammond, who served as the managing and artistic director for the Gainesville Theatre Alliance since 1990, said he was having lunch with his son when he got the call from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office in early October. In that moment, he said many emotions were swirling in his mind.

Diocese appoints Hynes as education consultant | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff report YOUNGSTOWN –The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education has named Margaret “Margie” Hynes as the new consultant for religious education and library services effective this month. Hynes is currently the parish director of religious education for St. Rose Parish in Girard where she works with Monsignor John Zuraw. Zuraw said “Margie has contributed greatly to the catechetical program at St. Rose. Her great passion for faith formation had made a lasting impact upon the parish.” Hynes’ academic background in education and theology is from Brenau University, Georgia and Loyola University of New Orleans respectively. In addition to faith formation at St. Rose Parish, Hynes also served in youth ministry, children’s ministry, marriage ministry and sacramental preparation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Austin-town.
