Art is Ageless winners named

Art is Ageless winners named The Kansan Winners of the 2021 edition of Art is Ageless are being celebrated at Newton Presbyterian Manor, and due to COVID-19, online. The contest is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. More than a dozen winners were named during the annual competition. Winning pieces at the community level move on to a masterpiece level judging to determine which pieces are featured in the Presbyterian Manor system’s annual calendar and note cards. “We were pleased with the number of entries in the competition despite having a closed exhibit, which speaks well of the Art is Ageless experience,” said Noelle Dickinson, marketing director. “Many of the artists have used their extra hours at home in the last year to hone their craft or branch into new media.  The joy it brings to them is contagious, and we enjoy celebrating their accomplishments and providing a way to share them with others through Art is Ageless.”

Topeka Presbyterian Manor s completed renovation features a new library and dining room

Topeka Presbyterian Manor residents now have access to newly renovated spaces that the senior living facility and the Greater Topeka Partnership unveiled Wednesday during a Facebook live video.  The renovated rooms are part of a $1.6 million project that took place over the last year at the senior living facility s 17-acre campus. Construction began January 2020 and includes remodels of the facility s main entrance, library, common rooms and dining rooms.  A coffee bar, located in a separate area from the library, offers additional seating and gives residents a space where they can sip on coffee while they are visiting with friends and family or relax.

COVID-19 vaccine is given to Salina senior living residents, staff

Three weeks after medical professionals received their COVID-19 vaccinations in Salina, some senior living residents and staff members who are most at risk were able to get their vaccination on Thursday. Several senior living residents in Salina will be getting the vaccine next week. “There’s no doubt the senior population has been hit hard by the virus, along with the health care workers who’ve treated them,” said Christian Gilbert, executive director at Salina Presbyterian Manor in a release. “We couldn’t be happier to know there’s finally a bit of light at the end of such a difficult year.”
