After last year s event was cancelled, Cannon Falls residents and area spectators gathered at the Cannon Falls Cemetery to remember the men and women who have served our country at the Memorial Day cemetery on May 31.Â
Prior to the ceremony there was a breakfast and parade honoring local veterans. Members of the VFW Post 4452 and American Legion Post 142 walked in the parade and were featured during the ceremony as well.Â
Rod Johnson acted as the master of ceremonies. Music was performed by the Cannon Falls Community Band.Â
The featured speaker was Cannon Falls resident Curtis Hermanson, the 2020 â 21 VFW MN State Commander.

Preston The resident trooper’s office and the Preston Youth Services and Senior Affairs offices are teaming up Saturday for a Stuff a Cruiser event to collect new toys for children and new socks and slippers for seniors.
The dual drives will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Preston Plains Middle School, 1 Route 164, at the corner of routes 2 and 164.
For the toy drive, Preston Youth Services is seeking new, unwrapped toys for children ages 1 to 13. Suggested items include Hot Wheels cars, Legos, arts and crafts supplies, board games, books, Play Doh, puzzles, sporting goods and Barbie dolls. The drive also will accept hair accessories and toiletries.
