Maldivian President arrives tomorrow to join independence celebration

DHAKA, March 16, 2021 (BSS) – Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will arrive here tomorrow morning as the first world leader to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh’s independence and birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Solih will be in Dhaka on a three-day tour to be followed by four other heads of state and government from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and India under separate schedules.
“President M Abdul Hamid will receive his Maldivian counterpart at the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport (HISA) at 8.20am tomorrow,” President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

The 77-year old head of state took the jab at the Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon, his Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had taken her first vaccine shot on Mar 4.
The government started the mass immunisation drive on Feb 7, 2021 after the first consignment of the Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Bangladesh from the Serum Institute of India, the largest vaccine manufacturer of the world.
