Midland County receives mobile morgue trailer from state

Midland County receives mobile morgue trailer from state Dec. 10, 2020 FacebookTwitterEmail A mobile morgue arrived in Midland County on Tuesday, a month after officials requested it because of rising COVID-19 deaths, County Judge Terry Johnson confirmed Thursday. The mobile morgue, or refrigerated trailer, was requested during a spike in COVID-19 deaths a few weeks ago, according to Johnson. The city of Midland reported 159 residents have died from the virus, though deaths have slowed down this month compared to November. Midland Memorial Hospital CEO and President Russell Meyers said in a phone interview that the hospital began talking with the county a couple months ago about the possibility of running out of morgue space.
