DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - This month marks one year of COVID-19 in Alabama.
The number of people hospitalized statewide and locally is declining, something leaders say is a good thing.
Right now, there are 16 COVID-19 patients at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. Four of those patients are in ICU, and two are on ventilators.
There have been fewer than 25 patients hospitalized there since Feb. 17, the lowest numbers at Decatur Morgan in months.

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - 120 teachers were vaccinated at Decatur-Morgan Hospital’s Parkway Campus Monday.
Hospital President Kelli Powers is hopeful for the future of the community.
“It’s really a good feeling not only for us, but also for the administration to know that this is being done and we have a plan. So I think it should be a very positive thing for the community seeing a little bit of a light going forward,” Powers said.
Vaccines are for hospital staff, first responders, home health staff and more.

Decatur-Morgan Hospital will start another round of vaccinations at 7 Wednesday morning. Vaccines are for hospital staff, first responders, home health staff and more. With me being out responding to calls and with a volunteer department now, I felt like we would have a better chance of coming into contact with it and I just felt like it was the right thing to do, explained Steve Shelton from the Falkville Fire Department just minutes after he got his vaccine.
