(Photo Provided) PARKERSBURG April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month with the theme of this year’s awareness campaign “Growing a Better Tomorrow for All Children, Together.” The Wood County Partners in Prevention Team sponsored by Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and other community partners are planting Pinwheel Gardens throughout the county this month as reminders everyone has a role to play in children’s lives.

XENIA Family Violence Prevention Center’s Youth Advisory Board will virtually host Walk a Mile in their Shoes Saturday, Feb. 27 in recognition of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. FVPC’s team of high school students recently came together to plan the event and spread this message: “Teen dating violence can happen to anyone.” “‘Walk a Mile in their Shoes’ asks young men and women to literally walk one mile in another person’s shoes whether it be boots or high-heeled shoes!,” a FVPC spokesperson said in a release. “It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but it is a light-hearted and creative way to get the community to talk about something that’s really difficult to discuss: gender

On Feb. 10 and 11, Sarah s Inn will be hosting a two-part virtual panel series for parents and teenagers to have a candid conversation that focuses on what dating looks like for teens today, dating violence, and how the media can influence our understanding of what relationships look like.
