The Miami Dolphins are in the middle of their organized team activities as the offseason training program continues. They have 91 players on the roster, thanks to a roster exemption for guard.
Dolphins announce free agent and rookie jersey numbers

The Miami Dolphins have announced the jersey numbers for their 2021 NFL Draft rookie class, recent free-agent additions, and incumbents who are switching numbers. The announcement came on Twitter and includes payers like first-round pick Jaylen Waddle, free agent Will Fuller V, and 2020 opt-out returnee Albert Wilson.
The NFL relaxed some of the jersey numbering rules this year, allowing for an expansion of numbers for several positions. The number structures are now:
Quarterbacks/kickers/punters 1-19
Tight ends 1-49, 80-90
Wilson, a wide receiver, will wear number 2 after having previously worn 15 for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Fuller, a wide receiver who signed with the Dolphins in free agency this year, will have number 3 after wearing 15 for his first five years in the league, all with the Houston Texans.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars – Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Jacksonville came out and selected a different quarterback? A move like that would immediately make this the most dramatic draft ever. It won’t happen though, as Lawrence is far too talented to pass on, even if there are still areas he can improve.
2. New York Jets – BYU QB Zach Wilson
This is another situation where a pivot to Justin Fields would be humorous, although Wilson appears to be the obvious selection for the Jets. There is no denying Wilson’s talent due to impressive accuracy, arm strength and a terrific deep ball, but he will need to improve his mental processing and maintain consistent mechanics from the pocket in order to reach his peak in the NFL. I think he’s more boom or bust than many are talking about right now. But working with Mike LaFleur could be huge for his development in the NFL.

Did you feel extra pressure coming in as a rookie knowing that you were the Texans first pick in the 2018 draft? Extra pressure? No. I was looking forward to the opportunity. Going all the way back to college, I was expecting to go first or second and ended up falling to the third, so I was coming in with the mentality already that I was coming to play. I m sure that s what these cats are coming in to do, too. It doesn t matter what round you go in when you get here, it matters what you do when you get here. As long as the young guys come in and have the right mentality, figure out their role on the team and a way to contribute and have a positive attitude, they ll be just fine.
