A game full of opportunities, and a lot of time spent not seizing them, led to Minnesota United s 2-1 victory over Portland on Saturday at Allianz Field.
The Loons (6-5-3) had 27 shots to the Timbers eight, 12 of those shots in the first half alone, but they fell behind 1-0. It wasn t until the 75th minute that the Loons evened the score. Defender Chase Gasper headed a high cross from Hassani Dotson past Timbers keeper Aljaz Ivacic to even the game at 1-1.

Sunday s 1-0 victory against Seattle was a much-needed win for Minnesota United. The club s previous two matches were a draw with San Jose and a loss at Colorado that ended a seven-game unbeaten streak.
In the Colorado loss, the Loons played without three of their four starting defenders. Against Seattle, they had Bakaye Dibassy back from injury but still missed Romain Metanire and Michael Boxall. That could change Saturday against Portland.

Coach and opposing player exchanged words after Cissoko fell in front of Heath beyond the sideline and writhed in supposed agony at Heath s feet. They later discussed the heated words said and Cissoko s pointed finger in the 63rd minute when he was subbed out late in the game and then again at game s end.

Last night did not go well for Minnesota United. An end to their seven match unbeaten streak, a bad 2-0 loss to Colorado Rapids, and a red card to Ramón Ábila after he was in the match for just about 20 minutes.
Heath would go with the same formation as the Loons draw with San Jose from Saturday, starting the team in a 4-2-3-1, however with five changes. Robin Lod, Ozzie Alonso, Ján Greguš, Brent Kallman, and DJ Taylor got starts while Niko Hansen, Wil Trapp, and Hassani Dotson were on the bench while Michael Boxall and Bakaye Dibassy were out due to injury.
