The Broadcasting Corporation of Niue, along with Telecom Niue, are to face an unprecedented parliamentary select committee.

One MP, Terry Coe, said there were concerns that Telecom Niue had yet to connect to the undersea cable, Manatua, while there had been unexplained spending within the government agency.
As for BCN, he said there have been problems of no signal in some areas for the past six months, while the programming was poor.
Coe said there was very little variety in shows with lots of repeats.
In reply, BCN chief executive, Trevor Tiakia, said the signal had been down for the past two months in some areas because parts being shipped from China were delayed.
Bike registration aims to combat bike theft on campus

Students are now able to register their bikes for no cost as a part of University efforts to ensure bike safety.
Bike registration can be done through myParking account on AccessUH and the process is free. If a bike is lost or stolen, this new program helps the UH Police Department in facilitating quicker recovery.
“It is also very important when having a bike on campus to get it registered,” said Capt. Bret Collier, who runs field operations for UHPD.
A PLAN to operate a late night bar in Prestwich village at the site of the former Orange Tree pub has been put forward. The team behind the Manchester Deansgate venue The Liquor Store have aspirations for a bar and restaurant called Prestwich Social Club at the Radius development, off Fairfax Road. A licensing hearing at Bury Council heard from Brett Collier, one of the team behind the application, who said he wished to create an attractive venue open for breakfast and brunch and for cocktails and drinks later in the the evening. He said: ” The operation will be very different to the previous tenants of the building.
