Glidden City Council Clarifies Code Omission Caused By 2019 Fireworks Ordinance Update

The Glidden City Council is working to correct an error discovered in their city code earlier this year. City Administrator, Brooke Peterson says they were recently contacted by their codification firm, Simmering-Cory of Storm Lake, regarding an issue that was created when Glidden updated its firework ordinance in 2019. The code section that was unintentionally altered deals with urinating or defecating in public. According to Peterson, this is an extremely uncommon issue in Glidden and it likely would have gone unnoticed had it not been for the regularly planned code review. She says the council is not planning to alter the fireworks ordinance, but a full three readings are required to correct the omissions from other sections.

A changing of the guard on Aspen City Council

Carolyn Sackariason / The Aspen Times A changing of the guard occurred Tuesday in the chambers of Aspen City Council as its newest member John Doyle was sworn into office and his predecessor, Ann Mullins, stepped down after serving for eight years. Incumbent Ward Hauenstein also was sworn in to serve a second four-year term. He and Doyle were the highest vote-getters in the March election, beating out six other candidates. Doyle and Hauenstein offered some comments after being sworn in, both in agreement in that they are honored and humbled to be elected as public servants. “I’m looking forward to working with you all over the next four years and I am really excited to be working with staff,” Doyle said.
