In October 2020, Pella became a Home Base Iowa Community, and according to the Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance, progress is being made in its growth locally.
PACE Alliance Executive Director Karen Eischen says the program is a one-of-a-kind, designed to connect Veterans and transitioning service members with over 2,400 businesses statewide who have pledged to hire over 16,000 Veterans.
Businesses and communities can also use homebaseiowa.gov to search for veteran job seekers who have uploaded their resume to the website. In addition to the 106 communities statewide, the program also partners with 27 colleges and universities.
The following businesses joined the program in October once the designation was established:
Precision, Inc., made a significant contribution to the renovation of Kiwanis Park in Pella Tuesday morning.
The corporation donated $250,000 to Wonder Spelen, an all-inclusive miracle playground project slated to begin construction this spring, with completion this fall.
CEO and President of PPI Roger Brown says they aim to make an impact on large-scale initiatives in the community, and the effort fit what they were looking to support.
“We’ve made a really concerted effort over the last seven or eight years to focus more of our donations on a local community and where we work and where we live,” he says. “When we look at where we are going to donate our money, we really look at the effect it has on people this to me and our leadership team was really a no-brainer.”
